VEGA Testing / Food Sensitivity Testing
EAV is a non-invasive energetic evaluation of a patient using a galvanometer. It has been used in Europe for many years to determine the energy imbalances of the body. The original German Electro-Acupuncture technique was started in 1953 by Dr. Reinhold Voll. This complex, time-consuming procedure involves measuring hundreds of acupuncture points. In diagnosis with electro-acupuncture, a slight potential different (voltage) is produced between a tip electrode held against an acupuncture point and a large surface electrode (hand electrode) held by the patient. The resultant resistance is then measured. The EAV test technique is founded on the theory of acupuncture. EAV has shown that acupuncture points bear a direct relationship to a specific anatomical structure or physiological function of the body.
In 1978, Dr. Helmut Schimmel originated the Vegetative Reflex Test (V.R.T.) or VEGATEST-Method. It is the culmination of 35 years of German electro-acupuncture development. Vegetative Reflex Test is a so-called Bio-Energetic Regulatory technique (BER). BER records the bio-electric potential of a person and is capable of revealing functional or so-called energetic disorders. With the VEGATEST-Method, only a few points (vs. hundreds with EAV) are used. The system is based on measuring against special test ampoules rather than organ-linked acupuncture points themselves. The response of the person to the test ampoules results in a "yes or no" reading, as test on one skin measurement point.
It is assumed that the VEGATEST-Method involves two processes: (1) a known electrical process of measuring skin resistance and (2) an unknown energetic and physical process. This model does not claim to be complete or true; the method is still in an empirical observation phase. All German electro-acupuncture systems depend on subjective aspects such as the influence and experience of the doctor because of the need to manually measure the acupuncture points.
Significant proof of the phenomenon of skin resistance changes was shown by a scientific study at Utrecht University, Utrecht, Netherlands. Vegetative Reflex Testing is used at the Integrative Health Centre to determine the presence of sensitivities to food, pollens, molds, environmental pollutants, chemicals, etc., without directly exposing the patient to the potential allergen. It produces immediate results in a simple pain-free way. In general, this food testing procedure is approximately 70% accurate.
